Happy National Nutrition Month!
March is National Nutrition Month, and we are celebrating at Dietitians at Home!
The theme for this year from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is “Bite Into A Healthy Lifestyle”. We all enjoy our “bites”-whether in a coffee shop in the morning, leftovers from home at lunch, or at your favorite restaurant. With so many different food choices, registered dietitian nutritionists remind us all to be mindful of what our choices are and what we put into our bodies because what we putin is what we will get out. If we eat a lot of processed, fast, and high sugar foods on a daily basis we slow down our bodies and will not be able to be the best we can be. But, loading up on vegetables, fruits, whole grains (with at least 3 grams of fiber or more), healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, olives) and water will energize us, and make uswant to make the next bite a healthier one. So, give the healthier choice attention this month-you never know- you may make it a habit for life.
